Fishing Tales

Salmo since day one

It was a hot, sunny day in July of 2001 when a friend and I embarked on our first musky fishing adventure on Webster Lake in Indiana. Like many "musky pioneers" before us, we started the day as optimistic as can be. After 9 straight hours of casting and nothing to show for our efforts, my lure choosing skills finally paid off when my first musky appeared from the depths and completely inhaled my Salmo Perch!

Fishermen in Holland are blessed with one of the best countries to fish for predator. From massive pikes to big zanders, we have it all, and since a few years we have our newest predator in the Dutch waters: the fast and furious asp!

THERE IS A LAND ... - Mongolia 2008

Where most of the land does not belong to anybody, where there are practically no roads and the average population density is 1 person per 2 square kilometres (and half of the people live in the capital city). 99% of water is crystal pure and the air is polluted only by periodic fires in the steppes. No wonder this "promised land" is a frequent destination of fishing trips for all those who do not fear the inconvenience of travel and lack of tourist facilities.

What a trip! - Spain 2008

What a trip!
Fishing outside native Holland? Oh we did so a lot. Mexico was beautiful and surf fishing was great. Fishing the Canadian Shield for pike and muskie was also a special adventure, as where some trips to the Russian Kola Peninsula. All nice, all exiting but I think I just found the place I certainly go for more often.

It was a windy day in August. I was fishing with fishing friend Sander Paans. We do not often fish together, but if we do we mostly catch big fish. His personal best pike with 125cm long was caught from my boat while we did some zander fishing with a fire-ball set-up.

The plan was to do some trolling and casting to see if we could catch some (big) pike. The day went realy well for me. First pike caught was 105cm long. Not long after I managed to catch a pike from...

Field test of the new SALMO PERCH 14SDR

This trip started in Salmo factory in the beginning of September. When my friend Tadek Muller showed me the new Perch 14 in the Super Deep Runner version I knew that I had to test it as soon as possible. Tadek said that these new lures dive to under 10 meters of depth. We thought Perch 14SDR should do a good job on the biggest lake in Poland - Sniardwy. We have decided to give it a try together on Sunday.

Fishing for catfish with Salmo lures

[foto/] - opowiesci - polow sumow - 15.jpg

Nowadays we can find quite a number of quality lures on the market. Among them a few are especially good for catfish. Already some time ago I heard that some of the Salmo lures are very effective in catching this predator. However, as far as I know, they were not created for this particular purpose. Some time ago I saw the Salmo show at the Hungarian Salmo Cup 2006. The lure that caught most of my attention then was the Salmo Skinner...

Slim and Thrill on the Green Island

The beginning of my angling at the Atlantic coast of Ireland was typical Polish zander fishing with soft plastic lures. I had some strikes, even quite big, but there was still something missing...

Outsmart the Queen

Not many species evoke so much emotion as the Danube salmon - Hucho hucho. Beautiful, dignified, reaching impressive size - the real queen of the mountain river. Still mysterious and difficult to catch, for many anglers it is a dream trophy, unreachable for many years.

To see the Volga Delta and ... go back there again!

There are many places in the world where I would like to go and cast my rod. Without any doubt, though, I will keep thinking about going back to the Volga Delta. More so, as during a few days we spent there, we could only taste a fracture piece of its magnificent beauty and abundance.
