Salmo-DHC- Weekendworkshop 2004

It was at the end of may when 16 members of the DHC (Deutscher Hechtangler-Club / German pikeanglers-club) met Piotr Piskorski of Salmo and dutch fishing legend Bertus Rozemeijer, to follow their invitation to a pikefishing workshop at a dutch lake nearby Amsterdam. 

Weather was fine, sun was shining when we met first at the harbour wher Bertus was showing some new prototype lures in action and Piotr handed out some lure samples to the members besides key ring, pin on needles and hats.

There was no time to loose and so we took the boats and hit the lake. First few pike fell on our lures right beside the harbour. Water was crystal clear and enabled the anglers to see every kind of action in the water, the numerous plants and also a lot of toothy fish which tried to grab the lures boatside.

Many of the guys were carrying a lot of lures but the new sliders handed out by Mr. P proofed to be real pike magnets and fooled a lot of our spotted friends. At the end of day one we were proud to present some nice pike in double figures with two right on the edge to reach the magic one metre mark and some followers were reported to be even bigger.

Due to the good weather conditions day two was supposed to be even better than one, but many clouds, a lack of wind and falling temperatures didn’t make it easier. I lost a nice fish when we were trolling the shoreline and we all still got our fair share of nice pike with only few jacks among them and also some nice zanders (pike-perch) but all in all we couldn’t reach the results of the first day. Me and my fishing mate saw a very brute pike but that lady wasn’t in the right mood to inhale one of our lures.

When it began to rain heavier most of the guys decided to leave and drive back home to germany with some nice fishing scenes in their minds and a whole lot of highly appreciated new experience. Maybe next time there’ll be a chance for a little more small talk.
